Oil on canvas
As we were driving along through scenic fields on Big Island, Hawaii, we passed by this wind farm. People complain about wind farms and say they are loud, they are big and obstruct our idea of a pretty view, but I think there is something very peaceful and beautiful about them. At one point, my husband was a wind turbine tech, who would climb up a couple of hundred feet to fix and maintain them. Anyway, to me this scene felt like nouveau Americana with the pickup truck meandering along in front of us, windows rolled down, and the beautiful, expansive Hawaiin views all around us. So I painted it.
